The 6th Brief of 2025 Population and Housing Census of Lao PDR 

[Overview]

The 5th Population and Housing Census (PHC) of Lao PDR, scheduled to begin on 3 November 2025, represents one of the most significant national undertakings in recent history. Conducted once every ten years, the census will provide critical information on the size, structure, and distribution of the population, forming the cornerstone of evidence-based and forward-looking policymaking and baseline population data for the monitoring of the 10 National Socio-Economic Development Plan (2026–2030). For the first time, Lao PDR will carry out a fully digital census, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and timely data collection across the country. This historic shift marks a milestone in the modernization of the national statistical system and reflects the government’s strong commitment to digital transformation and inclusive development.
